How Year List started
Several years ago, I heard an inspiring idea on a podcast*. She was talking about how, at the end of every year, she makes a list of 100+ things that she wants to do in the coming year. I am a to-do list kind of person, and although the concept resonated with me, it would take me a couple of years to act.
Last year, I convinced a group of friends to do a year list with me. We all created our categories, items, and goals. We used notebooks, spreadsheets, or whatever we could find to keep track of our progress. It got a little messy, especially trying to track everything.
We met monthly-ish (life gets busy sometimes), to celebrate what we’d accomplished, share what we’d be working towards in the following month, and organize around common goals. Nobody is going to complete 100% of their list, but we all did more than we thought we could, and we’ll be doing it again next year!
This Year List app checks off one of my items - learn how to build an app - and was created to make keeping and maintaining a year list easier, so that the focus can be on the list, not on the spreadsheet.
I’m excited to help others learn about this method to add more intention, growth, and maybe some whimsy to their year.
